Project Aim: create a nostaliga-inducing scientific calculator that expresses the playfullness of the Tamagotchi brand
The project name is derived from the brand name and Japanese word for calculator.
Tamagotchi = Tamago (egg) + Uotchi (watch)
Tamago + Keisanki (calculator) = Tamasanki
Process
The project started with disassembling a scientific calculator and recreating the internals using digital calipers to get precise measurements for the Solidworks model.
My sketches included motifs from tamagotchis across different generations. My final design included a charm, which I made on a separate Solidworks parts file and put together in an assembly file.
The case and charms were 3d printed with PLA, then assembled together with the internals of the original scientific calculator.
